Privacy statement

This Privacy Statement describes how your personal data is currently processed by SOCAP Europe.

The Society of Consumer Affairs Professionals in Europe (SOCAPiE) is an association of members from across Europe. SOCAPiE holds information about its members and information about non-members who attend SOCAPiE-organised events or who communicate with SOCAPiE or one of our partners.

The SOCAPiE Office is managed by a chief executive appointed by the SOCAPiE Board. The current chief executive is based in Scotland and must comply with the UK's Data Protection Act, which is the UK's law that also implements the EU's directives on Data Privacy.

What personally identifiable information is collected?

SOCAPiE members' contact information at their place of work or any other place they tell us about. This includes name, the organisation that they work for, their job title, address, telephone number and email. A password is issued to each member and is held on file.

Where a booking for a SOCAPiE event is made, contact information is also collected. In addition, if the person booking the event requests to pay by credit card, their payment details are temporarily held to process payment.

Visitors to the SOCAPiE web site who subscribe to updates are asked to provide their email address, name, job title and organisation that they work for.

How the information is used

Information held by SOCAPiE is used to communicate with members, non-members and subscribers about news, SOCAPiE services and events. The information is also used to process membership, plan and organise events (e.g. annual subscription renewals and bookings).

A summary of a member's details may be made available to other SOCAPiE members in the Members Directory. The summary contains the member's name, job title, organisation worked for, location, telephone number and email address. Members can opt out from having their details made available in this way by updating their membership record online. The availability of this information to members is to help the exchange of ideas, expertise and opinions, and should remain private amongst SOCAPiE members.

SOCAPiE DOES NOT SELL OR SHARE PERSONAL INFORMATION with any third party organisation for that organisation's own use.
